Book reviews: All of Elmore Leonard’s 45 novels

For eleven years now, I’ve been reading all of Elmore Leonard’s 45 novels, and now I’m done. I’m sorry the odyssey is over; it was such fun.

Over the years, I’d read a Leonard novel here and there. Then, in January, 2015, I started this journey through his western and modern crime novels although I didn’t know it at the time.

I read three of his books in 2015, and, at some point, maybe around the beginning of 2016, I decided to get to all of the novels and review them on my website. And that’s what I’ve done.

 

Random and then chronological

My approach was pretty much random, this novel and then that one. Soon, though, I got around to the idea of reading the books in chronological order, at least, the ones I hadn’t already read and reviewed.

(During this time, I was also reading all of Terry Pratchett’s 41 Discworld novels, but, with those, I read them in the order in which they were published.)

When I finally got to Leonard’s last novel, Raylan, there were a handful of books that I’d read pre-2015 and had never reviewed. So, I finished up with them, and here are links to my review of every one of his novels.

 

Again?

I miss having another Leonard novel to read, so maybe I’ll start again, but, this time, make the journey chronologically.

(That strategy enriched my reading of the Pratchett books.)

It may be something to look forward to.
